Canada announced the first Francophone round under EE
On July 7, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced the first Francophone round for category-based selection. This initiative focusing on French-speaking newcomers will not only promote the French language but also alleviate labour shortages in communities outside of Quebec.
Early on May 31, 2023, Minister Fraser announced changes to the Express Entry system, specifically through category-based selection. These changes aim to address labour shortages by inviting candidates with specific work experience or proficiency in the French language to apply for permanent residence.
These category-based selection rounds, in addition to general invitation rounds, will continue throughout the year, and further details will be provided in the upcoming weeks.
