Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP): Workers

If you want to immigrate to PEI as a worker, you may be eligible to apply for one of the following streams.

Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program: Critical Workers

If you are employed on a full-time basis in Prince Edward Island (PEI), you may be eligible to receive a nomination for permanent residency under the Critical Worker stream. This stream of the PEI PNP is designed to meet the needs of employers on the island by facilitating the recruitment of individuals for intermediate-skilled positions in NOC TEER 4 or 5 that cannot be filled locally.

Intermediate Experience Stream

The Intermediate Experience stream (previously known as the NOC C Initiative) within the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) offers the opportunity to seek a nomination for permanent residency. This employer-driven stream is specifically designed for Island employers who are facing difficulties in filling intermediate-skilled positions in NOC TEER 4 through the local job market.

International Graduates

If you have graduated from a publicly-funded post-secondary institution in Prince Edward Island (PEI), you may be eligible to apply for a nomination for permanent residency through the International Graduate stream. This stream is employer-driven, allowing Island employers to fill job positions that they are unable to fulfill using the local job market.

Occupations in Demand

The Occupations in Demand stream is an employer-driven program designed to address specific job vacancies that cannot be filled through the local job market in Prince Edward Island (PEI). This stream serves as a means for employers on the island to recruit talent from both within Canada and internationally.

To qualify for this stream, you must have a full-time, non-seasonal permanent job offer from a PEI employer in one of the following National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes:

  • NOC 33102: Nurse aides, orderlies, and patient service associates.
  • NOC 73300: Transport truck drivers.
  • NOC 75110: Construction trades helpers and labourers.
  • NOC 65310: Light duty cleaners.

PEI Express Entry

Through the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP), you have the opportunity to apply for a PEI Express Entry nomination, which can significantly enhance your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) from the Federal Government for permanent residency.

To be eligible for nomination through PEI Express Entry, you need to fulfill the following requirements:

  • Meet the criteria of at least one of the Federal Economic Immigration programs, which include:
    • Federal Skilled Worker Program
    • Federal Skilled Trades Program
    • Canadian Experience Class
  • Create a Federal Express Entry Profile and be placed in the pool of candidates.

Prince Edward Island places priority on issuing invitations through the Express Entry system to applicants who are currently employed and living in the province with a qualifying PEI employer.

Skilled Workers in PEI

If you are currently employed by an employer in Prince Edward Island (PEI), you may be eligible to apply for a nomination for permanent residency through the Skilled Worker stream. The Skilled Worker stream is specifically designed to cater to the needs of Island employers by allowing them to fill high-skilled positions in NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 that they are unable to fill through the local job market.

Skilled Workers Outside Canada

The Skilled Worker Stream of the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) can be utilized by employers in PEI to recruit talent from outside of Canada. However, prior authorization from the Office of Immigration is required for the PEI employer before issuing a job offer. Once approved, a work permit support letter will be provided to the applicant, allowing them to apply for a work permit.
