Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) is the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) of the province of Alberta. 

The AAIP is an economic immigration initiative that nominates individuals for permanent residency in Alberta. Applicants can either fill job shortages or establish or acquire a business in the province, while also being able to support their families. 

The program is a joint collaboration between the Canadian and Alberta governments. Successful nominees, along with their spouse or common-law partner, and dependent children, are eligible to apply for permanent residency.

 

Note:

On February 16, 2022, the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) was renamed the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program. The names of some of the immigration streams were also changed:

• International Graduate Entrepreneur Immigration Stream > Graduate Entrepreneur Stream
• Foreign Graduate Start-Up Visa Stream > Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur Stream

Alberta Advantage Immigration Program: Available Streams

The government of Alberta provides 2 streams: Streams for Workers & Streams for Entrepreneurs, for foreign nationals to get nominated for the AAIP. 

 

Alberta Advantage Immigration Program: Streams for Workers

The AAIP offers three streams for qualified foreign workers to obtain nomination:

 

AAIP: Alberta Opportunity Stream 

Individuals who live and work in Alberta and have received a job offer from an employer in the province may be qualified to apply for an AAIP nomination under the Alberta Opportunity Stream. 

 

AAIP: Alberta Express Entry Stream

The Alberta Express Entry Stream is suitable for Individuals whose profiles are in the federal Express Entry pool and align with the minimum requirements, selection factors, and provincial economic, sectoral, and occupational priorities. Dedicated pathways within this stream are available for healthcare professionals and technology workers. 

 

AAIP: Rural Renewal Stream

The Rural Renewal Stream requires communities to apply and receive designation before recruiting and endorsing candidates. Individuals with a job offer from an employer in a designated community and an endorsement letter from the community can apply for an AAIP nomination. 

 

Alberta Advantage Immigration Program: Streams for Entrepreneurs 

The AAIP offers 4 streams for entrepreneurs who intend to establish or acquire businesses in Alberta:

 

AAIP: Rural Entrepreneur Stream

Entrepreneurs looking to start or purchase a business in rural Alberta communities can submit an Expression of Interest through the Rural Entrepreneur Stream.

 

AAIP: Graduate Entrepreneur Stream 

The Graduate Entrepreneur Stream allows international graduates from designated Alberta post-secondary institutions, who wish to start or purchase a business in the province, to submit an Expression of Interest. 

 

AAIP: Farm Stream 

Experienced farmers who plan to buy or start a farm in Alberta can apply for nomination through the Farm Stream. 

 

AAIP: Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur Stream

The Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur Stream is designed for foreign graduates with a degree from a post-secondary institution outside Canada who want to launch innovative start-up enterprises. They can work with a designated agency to submit an Expression of Interest.
