Canada will launch a new pathway under the EMPP

On March 27, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced a new economic pathway under the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP) to help more skilled refugees and other displaced people build their careers in Canada.

To further enhance the EMPP, the Government of Canada has announced the introduction of a new federal pathway that will complement the existing EMPP pathways.

The new federal pathway connects skilled refugees and other qualified displaced individuals with Canadian employers who require employees in key occupations to address labour shortages. This serves a dual purpose of allowing Canada to welcome vulnerable individuals while also enabling Canadian employers to tap into an untapped talent pool to attract and retain skilled workers, which can contribute to the growth of the Canadian economy.

The new pathway will be effective this summer and more details will be available in the coming weeks.
