#199 Express Entry Draw | PNP invites 512 candidates
TWA REPORT – On August 4, 2021, Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted its 199th Express Entry (EE) draw, also its 15th Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw of 2021. A total of 512 PNP candidates received Invitations to Apply (ITAs). Moreover, the draw featured a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 760 –– 26 points higher than the last PNP draw.

The PNP program attracts talented personnel to contribute to Canada’s development. Under the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, IRCC has shifted its focus onto inland PNP and CEC candidates. Despite the restraint brought by the coronavirus, IRCC has set a new record in 2020, issuing 107,350 ITAs. However, this record is likely to be superseded in this year. By the end of Q2, 2021, the Express Entry witnessed a record-breaking number of invitations: 94,304 ITAs were issued, with 7,151 for PNP and 87,153 for Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
The fact that Canada rapidly unfurls its potential in the technology industry indirectly indicates the country’s need for relevant experts. Simultaneously, each province and territory offers its own provincial nominee program according to area-specific demands. Overall, the lowest CRS scores in the program have not exhibited a clear upward/downward trend. One possible reason could be that IRCC wishes to maintain the integral quality of its applicant pool. Unlike other skilled immigration streams, PNP candidates are nearly 100% guaranteed to receive ITAs based on their competence.
As Canada moves forward on its border reopening agenda, it is likely that IRCC will resume draws for the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) and Federal Skilled Trade (FST) programs by the end of the year. However, until the Government of Canada and the Public Health Agency make further announcements, prospective inland candidates should still actively submit their applications via EE.
