On November 14, 2022, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced the start of a new Canada-Italy Youth Mobility Agreement to offer more options for Canadian and Italian youth to apply for the International Experience Canada (IEC) program. 

Since December 11, 2020, Canada and Italy have had a Youth Mobility Agreement to improve labour market access for both Canadian and Italian youth. Now, they come into force with a new Youth Mobility Agreement to expand the travel and work opportunities through the International Experience Canada program. 

Under the new agreement, youth between 18 and 35 years old are allowed to work and travel for up to 12 months, with the option to participate in the program twice, resulting in a total of 24 months. Moreover, 2 new streams, International Co-op and Young Professionals, have been introduced to provide youth with the opportunities to get professional work experience overseas.
